Really, what IS the DaveStick?

OK, it’s a PVC stick with a corkscrew on the end.

Sure, you can make one in your garage. Buy the PVC, find a store that sells the corkscrew & bolts, get home and notice the corkscrew doesn’t fit the PVC pipe.   No problem,  grind down the corkscrew. (If you’ve ever snag ground aluminum before, you know why we mention this - it plugs the wheel and removing the aluminum stops.) Local machine shops charge about $100 an hour plus setup fees to machine the corkscrew to the correct size. Before you know it, an afternoon (at least) is spent, when for only $39.95 + shipping you can be on the lake as soon as your DaveStick arrives.
